Spores of this species measure (8.4-) 9.2 - 11.5 (-12.8) × (5.9-) 6.2 - 7.2 (-7.3) μm, are ellipsoid to elongate, and inamyloid. Clamps are very likely to be present on bases of basidia.

The following material is based upon original research by R. E. Tulloss.
One of the means of distinguishing this entity from the Amanita jacksonii-like taxa of the eastern U.S.A. is the lack of an umbo on the pileus. It also appears that the cap color is more strongly orange than in A. banningiana, which, however, has spore size and shape similar to those of the present species.
Also instructive is the comparison of sporographs is provided below.
Some preliminary DNA work indicated that this species was distinct from A. banningiana; however, the results were apparently not retained by the lab doing the work. Fresh material of this taxon is greatly desired by the editors and their colleagues.
